The Proven Leader

Since being elected as the Lee Hill District Supervisor in 2021, I have been committed to serving as a strong and accessible voice for our community. I actively engage with residents through town halls, HOA meetings, and direct conversations because I believe effective leadership starts with listening. Every decision made by the Board has real consequences for our citizens, and I take that responsibility seriously. My pledge is simple: to serve you with integrity, transparency, and a steadfast focus on what’s best for the people of Lee Hill.

FISCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

As a member of the Board of Supervisors, one of my key responsibilities is to set the county's budget and tax rate. Over the last four years, I have shown a strong commitment to responsible stewardship of public funds, ensuring that vital services like Schools, Fire and Rescue, the Sheriff's Department receive the funding they need. I am acutely aware of the financial burden that additional taxes can place on our citizens, especially those on fixed incomes. It is crucial that we balance our priorities while recognizing limited resources at our disposal.

MANAGED GROWTH

Spotsylvania County is a growing and dynamic community. As a member of the Board, I’ve consistently supported a managed growth philosophy, particularly when reviewing rezoning applications. It is essential that we address the impact of growth thoughtfully and ensure our infrastructure can support the demands of new development.

The Spotsylvania County Comprehensive Plan—the guiding document for our future growth—calls for a 70/30 split between residential and commercial development. That means 70% residential and 30% commercial. However, our development stands at approximately 82% residential and just 18% commercial.

I remain committed to aligning our growth with the goals outlined in the Comprehensive Plan. My voting record reflects this commitment: I have voted in favor of 33% of residential rezoning requests and 72% of commercial rezonings (2022 thru 5/2025), always with an eye toward the specific project and impact to our community.

EXPERIENCE MATTERS

It is imperative that the citizens of Spotsylvania are represented on regional boards and commissions to ensure their voices and interests are heard. I have always welcomed the opportunity to serve in these roles and advocate for our community.

I proudly represent Spotsylvania County on several regional boards and commissions.  In FY25, I served as chair on both GWRC (George Washington Regional Commission) and FAMPO (Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization), working collaberatively with other localities in Planning District 16 to address and improve regional transportation needs.

I also serve on the Central Rappahannock Library Board, Healthy Generations Area Agency on Aging,  The Potomac Rappahannock Transportation Commission and on the Executive Committee of the Virginia Railway Express.

At the county level, I serve on the Community Policy Management Team (CPMT) and the Finance Committee, where I work to ensure that local resources are used effectively and responsibly to meet the needs of our residents.

In addition to my local and regional involvement,  I have become active with the Virginia Assocation of Counties (VACo), which provides an avenue to advocate for Spotsylvania County residents at the state level.  I am a graduate of VACo's Certified Supervisor Program and currently serve on the VACo's Board of Directors, further strengthing my ability to represent and advance the interest of the citizens.
